At J. de Jonge, industrial projects are driven by people who grow, take ownership, and make things happen every day.

Today we feature Sergio, who has been with us for one year and is developing towards Project/Construction Manager. Since joining, he has taken on the role of Supervisor: from preparing quotations and planning activities to coordinating colleagues and arranging materials, he manages projects from A to Z.

“The variety in my work is what makes it so enjoyable. One day you support a one-day job, the next you are working on a large project for months. No two days are the same.”

Currently, he is working at a major refinery in Rotterdam, contributing to the preparation of a large shutdown. This involves close collaboration, coordination with multiple stakeholders, and detailed field assessments to develop a safe and effective execution plan.

What makes working at J. de Jonge special?
“The enormous variety, from refinery shutdowns to on-site machining where you need to switch quickly. That makes it dynamic and challenging.”

He also highlights our team culture:
“There is a real hands-on mentality. Everyone supports each other, and despite the size of the company, it feels like a family.”

His most memorable moment so far?
“The personal growth you can experience. I’m on the path towards Project/Construction Manager, following training such as AI courses, and working on a large multidisciplinary project. It is extremely educational and rewarding.”
