Our client operates a bunker and blending terminal in the central Mediterranean, strategically located to support East-West trade routes. They required assistance to restore a critical Ruhrpump centrifugal pump with a capacity of 1,000 m³/h at approximately 10 bar(g), which had been out of service for several years.
The pump had faced severe weathering, as it and its spare parts had been stored in unconditioned facilities near the seaside, leading to extensive weathering and corrosion.
In addition, the pump had been inactive for years, requiring not only repairs but a complete overhaul to ensure reliable performance upon reinstallation.
The project began with a detailed inspection and evaluation. Upon receiving the pump and spare parts at our Vlaardingen shop, a thorough inspection was conducted, and a detailed report outlining the necessary repairs was shared with the client.
The individual components were either repaired or completely overhauled, with all soft parts being replaced. Intermediate inspections ensured that the components met quality standards before the pump was reassembled.
After the final assembly, the pump underwent functionality testing followed by a long-term pressure test to identify any potential leaks. Finally, a high-quality coating was applied to protect the pump from future environmental degradation.
The pump was fully restored to optimal working condition and prepared for immediate installation at the client’s site.
The repairs and the applied coating ensured its durability in challenging environmental conditions, and the client expressed high satisfaction with the overhaul’s quality and the transparency of the process.
