LyondellBasell Wesseling, a key location for the global chemical giant, embarked on the construction of a completely new jetty. JE&A was brought in to handle the electrical and instrumentation aspects of the project. The aim was to integrate advanced electrification systems into the new jetty while ensuring full compliance with safety standards.
The main challenge was to design and implement a control philosophy for the jetty’s loading process that would meet LyondellBasell’s specific operational requirements. This included developing a base control system design and adapting it to the client’s needs.
JE&A was tasked with grounding and earthing, cable routing and installation, and setting up a gas detection system. The team designed and implemented the control system, including a ship/shore connection. A custom engineering design was delivered for the ship/shore connection to ensure seamless operation.
The project also integrated ship earthing systems and camera systems within the jetty’s infrastructure. Furthermore, the installation included electrical heat tracing, instrumentation for tank level measurement, temperature and pressure monitoring, and a new lighting system. The lighting system was installed in compliance with Natura 2000 regulations.
The project successfully delivered a fully integrated electrification system for the new jetty, with all systems functional.
Effective communication between JE&A and LyondellBasell ensured that the project stayed on schedule, and completed the project within the agreed deadline.
