The Ruyter platform, located in the North Sea, is a 5000 ton oil production platform. During a scheduled shutdown, several pipelines were found to be in poor condition following inspections.
As part of the platform’s maintenance program, these pipelines required urgent renewal to ensure operational safety and efficiency. In addition to the pipeline renewal, various valves needed to be replaced, and plates of a turbine exhaust had to be repaired.
The project posed several challenges, given the offshore environment and the complexity of the work that had to be completed during a limited shutdown period.
The team had to manage both prefabrication in the workshop and work on the platform itself. Ensuring minimal downtime while performing the required mechanical and piping works under strict safety protocols was a priority.
The scope of work involved renewing several pipelines on the Ruyter platform. Some of the prefabrication of the pipelines took place in the workshop in Vlaardingen, while the remaining work was carried out on-site, aboard the platform.
In addition to the pipeline renewal, the team replaced several valves that needed to be dismounted for inspection and revision purposes. Another key task involved repairing the plates of a turbine exhaust, which were critical for the platform’s operation.
The project was successfully completed within the allocated timeframe, ensuring the platform could resume its operations safely and efficiently.
The renewal of pipelines, valve replacements, and turbine exhaust repairs all contributed to maintaining the operational integrity of the de Ruyter platform, minimizing downtime and preventing potential future issues.
