At the Botlek Rotterdam site, burners in oven R201A were underperforming due to poor combustion, resulting in elevated CO levels. The client sought a comprehensive solution to restore the burners to peak operational condition.
Recognizing the critical nature of the project, our team was engaged to conduct an extensive revision, encompassing inspection, repair, and reassembly. This year-long initiative aimed to achieve precision and durability while maintaining close coordination with the client.
The project presented several challenges, beginning with the degraded condition of the burner components. Significant rust and wear had compromised functionality, with malfunctioning rods and damaged parts creating inefficiencies in combustion.
Additionally, the burners required disassembly in small increments to minimize downtime, allowing only one or two burners to be worked on at a time.
This incremental approach required detailed planning and a meticulously organized workflow. Compounding these challenges was the variable availability of replacement parts. While some components were in stock, others required custom fabrication in-house, necessitating adaptability and expert manufacturing skills.
The burners were inspected and carefully disassembled step by step, starting with the tips and gradually working towards the burner body. In cases where components resisted disassembly, heat was applied to loosen them without causing damage.
During repairs, wing nuts were replaced, bushings were ground and welded, and rusted components were restored to full functionality. Gaskets were replaced where necessary, and efforts were made to make the middle rods operational again. Certain components required complete revision, with missing parts fabricated in-house to avoid delays.
After repairs were completed in the workshop, the burners were reassembled and reinstalled into the oven. Throughout the process, the team worked closely with the client’s supervisors and inspection team to ensure that every step aligned with the client’s expectations and specifications.
The revision of the R201A burners resulted in significantly improved combustion efficiency, with reduced CO levels and restored functionality. Repairs were executed with precision and durability in mind, ensuring that the burners would continue to perform reliably over time.
The client expressed satisfaction with the structured approach, consistent communication, and high-quality results achieved during the project.
This project illustrates our ability to undertake complex, precision-driven repairs over extended periods while maintaining a strong focus on collaboration, quality, and efficiency. Through meticulous planning and expert execution, we successfully delivered a solution that exceeded client expectations.
