Reducing corrosion with Rainshields
Five years ago, Ineos a valued client from Wallonia, Belgium, reached out to J de Jonge TankX due to persistent inwatering problems underneath their storage tanks.
Despite several previous attempts to solve the issue, no effective solution had been found. J de Jonge TankX, however, provided a straightforward yet highly effective solution to this well-known problem in the storage tank industry: Rainshields.
These Rainshields prevent rainwater from reaching the storage tank bottom. The key advantage is that they create a consistently dry environment underneath the storage tank, significantly reducing the risk of corrosion.
The scope of work
Upon arrival at the client’s site, Hassan, J de Jonge TankX’s Rainshield expert identified a moisture buildup underneath one of the storage tanks, which could lead to corrosion under the storage tank.
A test tank was selected, and Rainshields were installed to prevent further inwatering accumulation under the storage tank’s bottom.
One of the most significant benefits of the Rainshield system is its ability to solve inwatering problems underneath storage tanks, thereby preventing corrosion issues due to inwatering.
After four years, follow-up inspections were conducted to evaluate the system’s performance. The results were promising; inwatering had significantly decreased, and corrosion under the tank was stabilized.
Thanks to these successful results, the client was convinced of the system’s effectiveness, leading to more Rainshield installations at their site.
Results and client feedback
J de Jonge TankX’s service extends beyond the installation of Rainshields. Each year, Hassan and his team conduct thorough inspections of both the tanks and the Rainshields to ensure the systems continue to function optimally.
