We are currently looking for an Operations Manager for the Business Unit JLA Loading Technology. JLA Loading Technology specializes in loading and unloading systems for ships, trucks, and trains. The team passionately develops, designs, and manufactures these installations entirely in-house. These systems are custom-designed according to prevailing environmental and safety regulations and are installed by our own people around the world.
Wat ga je doen?
As Operations Manager at JLA, you will lead the production environment of capital-intensive technical systems, primarily our high-spec loading arms. You combine a strategic long-term vision with a decisive and inspiring leadership style on the shop floor. You will be ultimately responsible for the departments of Fabrication, Assembly, Transport, and Commissioning, ensuring smooth operations in a fast-growing, innovative environment.
JLA Loading Technology operates in a rapidly evolving world. This requires anticipation, improvement, and renewal. You will create the conditions in which teams can excel, processes improve continuously, and customer satisfaction grows structurally. In this role, you report directly to the Business Unit Manager.
Your responsibilities include:
- Standardizing and optimizing production processes, focusing on quality, speed, and cost
- Designing and implementing a scalable and effective operational structure, including the layout of the new production site
- Leading production supervisors and indirectly operational teams; fostering a culture of ownership and safety
- Monitoring progress, planning, and KPIs; reporting on performance and finances
- Developing customer relationships and contributing to cost estimates, proposals, and customer satisfaction
- Making arrangements with suppliers and subcontractors in collaboration with procurement and project leaders
- Overseeing contracts and agreements
- Acting as substitute for the Business Unit Manager when absent

Functie eisen
As Operations Manager at JLA, you are a driven, process-oriented leader with a proven track record in the technical manufacturing industry. You combine strategic insight with a hands-on mentality and effectively steer both people and processes. You thrive in an industrial setting, have a passion for technology and improving production processes, and flourish in the dynamic environment of a family-owned, entrepreneurial organization. You ensure standardization, efficiency, and quality, and elevate teams to the next level.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or logistics
- At least 5 years of experience in an operational management role in a technical production environment
- Experience optimizing production processes and setting up efficient production lines
- Strong technical knowledge in the metal industry
- A strong people manager who switches easily between theory and practice
- Excellent command of Dutch and English; German is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a natural leadership style: connecting and decisive
- Technically skilled and analytically strong with sound, independent judgment
- Proactive, results-oriented attitude with a strong sense of ownership
- Passion for continuous improvement, operational excellence, and building strong teams
